Song? And what's your history with it? Early Sunsets Over Monroeville. Formed, what I didn't realize would be, a core memory of listening to it while driving home from a friend's house who lived in a rural neighborhood in the middle of winter. It was a full moon and I was floored by how bright it was with all the moonlight bouncing off the snow as I came around a curve from behind one of the only hills in central Illinois.

Foods: Categorically? Appetizers. I'm a grazer, so tapas and finger foods are my friends. A mini quiche is the exact right amount of quiche.

Places to eatThe Observatory (good people and good rotation of specials), Le ChonDuck House.

Places on Earth: Public transportation, it's really easy to romanticize spending all day on buses and trains. You get a cool, efficient view of cities while also getting to people-watch? Yes, please. Alt answer is obviously anywhere my dogs are.

Who would you like to meet?  Sharon Van Etten. I have been a big fan of her's since Epic and now that she's been dabbling in film (Never Rarely Sometimes Always??? a masterpiece) I just couldn't love her more.

Three people to have dinner with? They can be dead or alive. Kurt Vonnegut, my favorite writer who I think would have interesting things to say about our climate (environmental, political, artistic, and more?). Chantal Akerman, rip. Bell Hooks, who I admire for keeping love at the forefront of radical activism.

On Editing

What are you most proud of? The fact that the most recent thing I've done is usually the thing I'm most proud of, to me, is an indicator that I'm improving and building on what I've learned.

What is something you want to work on? My fear of writing an email that may be perceived as not enthusiastic enough.

What is something you dream of doing? Work? Personal? Both? Work-wise, eventually I want to direct more. I have a couple of things I'm writing, but that's a really terrifying place. To have the work leave the privacy of my computer and bring it out into existence. Personally, I want to get a Berger Picard and compete in a canine freestyle. Life is short. Why not?

Why do you edit? I'm always thinking about coincidences. We think they're rare, but coincidences happen all the time. I think editing, particularly doc editing, is a way to take those "coincidences" and construct patterns that reveal a deeper story. I love that editing can make the world a smaller place by connecting the right images and stories.
