We’re delighted to welcome Pegi Murray to the Lucky Day team as our new Head of Sales!

Not only does Pegi have copious amounts of experience connecting and working with incredibly talented people, but she's also funny, wicked smart, skillful, and has extraordinary taste.

Meet Pegi

Nickname: Peg / Pegisonic / Pegasus

Astrological Sign: Pisces Sun / Aries Moon / Sagittarius Rising

Favorites

Colors: Yellow and grey -- one represents optimism and the other melancholy. I live in both worlds.

Movies? Or what movies inspire you? Midnight Cowboy is at the top of my list -- Adam Holender's cinematography is jaw-dropping. Also, the phenomenal editing was done by Hugh A. Robertson, the first African American to be nominated for an Oscar for his work on this film. Throw in a John Barry soundtrack and it has everything you could ever want from a peak movie experience!

I also loved Holender's work in The Panic In Needle Park, which I regard as a love story. It was the film that brought Al Pacino to the attention of Francis Ford Coppola for The Godfather. This is a testament to Coppola's vision and Pacino's acting ability: to play a grubby heroin addict and then step into the role of an intimidating mafia boss was no small feat.

Putney Swope is a brilliant commentary on advertising and its message stands up today. Definitely worth a watch.

Favorite places on Earth:

Bathsheba in Barbados is incredible. This rocky, surfers' beach is on the eastern side of the island and the water is dark and churlish, not like the turquoise water and white sands on the other side. I like the contrast.

Also, any bookstore with a wide selection.

Bands: This list is ever-changing, but here is today's answer: Beak>, W.I.T.C.H., Temples, Doechii (LOVE her!), SAULT, Gang of Four, LAL (my brother Nic's band!), Massive Attack, Antibalas, Silver Apples, The Savage Resurrection, Badfinger, Disco-Tex & His Sex-O-Lettes, Blur, The Go! Team, It's All Meat.

Ask me again tomorrow.

Song: Currently, "Peg" by Steely Dan, because I share a name with the song title and it makes me smile. As with most Steely Dan songs, there's a seedy backstory, in this case involving porn. That is where the similarities to my life end.

Also, "Introduction" by W.I.T.C.H..

Foods: I'm a vegan, you don't care about my answer.

Places to eat: Manuela inside the Hauser + Wirth gallery in downtown Los Angeles, mainly for the gorgeous outdoor patio, since there are only two items on the menu I can eat -- see my response to "Favorite Foods".  Also, Bacari is a new favorite, and Laurel Hardware. Again, both have beautiful patios, I like a good atmosphere.

Deep Dive

Why do you work in sales?

I get to make a positive difference in other people's lives, at least professionally. There is nothing more satisfying than seeing a talented person thrive and knowing I played a small part in their success. I enjoy connecting people to opportunities.

Who would you like to meet? António Guterres, the current Secretary-General of the United Nations. He seems genuinely concerned with the state of the world, particularly the climate crisis. His levels of stress must be off the charts.

Three people to have dinner with? They can be dead or alive.

Sophie Oluwole: The late Nigerian philosopher, because when most people think of philosophy, Africa doesn't immediately come to mind. I would love to hear her speak about Yoruba philosophy and oral traditions.

Yoko Ono: A painfully underrated artist. RIP Fluxus.

Andy Samberg: We need somebody at the table to make us laugh!

What is something you dream of doing?

I'm already living the dream! I love life in Los Angeles, especially for the flourishing arts scene. A trip to Brazil would round things out nicely, to see if my samba dancing skills meet the required standard.

What are you most proud of? My artistic family. Also, my book collection - although I am starting to veer into hoarder territory, as it is expanding to the point of becoming unmanageable. This alarms my minimalist heart.

Anything else you want to share? Lucky Day, all day! Spread the word!
