Job Summary:
Lucky Day, a post-production company specializing in commercials and branded content, is seeking a Controller to manage the day-to-day financial operations for both Lucky Day and Mirror Mirror. This role is pivotal in providing the leadership team with clear visibility into financial performance, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and maintaining clean and audit-ready books. The Controller will work closely with producers and external financial partners to support project-based financial management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own accounts payable and accounts receivable for both Lucky Day and Mirror Mirror.
- Generate and manage client invoicing tied to project milestones and production schedules.
- Perform monthly reconciliations across bank, credit card, and project-level accounts.
- Coordinate payroll processing in partnership with our fractional accounting/HR firm.
- Manage freelancer and contractor payments, including 1099 tracking.
- Maintain clean, audit-ready books in our accounting system.
- Build and maintain recurring financial reporting for partners, including cash position and project margins.
- Support budgeting and cash flow forecasting in partnership with the fractional CFO.
Required Qualifications:
- 5+ years of accounting or controller-level experience; agency or project-based professional services experience preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to manage full-cycle bookkeeping independently.
- Comfort building and maintaining financial reports/dashboards outside of default accounting-software templates.
- Experience with multi-entity or multi-P&L accounting is a plus.
- Working proficiency in Airtable, or willingness to learn quickly.
- Excellent written communication skills for presenting financial information to non-finance partners.
- High attention to detail and comfort owning deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Fluency with ActualizeIt is a plus.
- Experience in a project-based creative business environment.
- Based in Portland, OR, and available for hybrid in-office work.
